Starting the Season at Douglas Community Gardens

MEMBERS: If you haven’t already read it, please review the email from us about starting the growing season at the gardens! If you can’t find the email, let us know and we will send you a new one.

*NEW* Volunteer Needs List

Check out the list of current volunteer projects on the new Volunteer Updates page. Some of the needs right now include moving mulch from Crow Hill to B Street, spreading mulch at B Street, building a tool shed, and joining the greenhouse group.

All members are responsible for a minimum of 5 volunteer hours at the garden.

B Street Garden has a New Fence

A huge thanks to our rock star volunteers George Partlow, Alan Davis and Darren Snyder & family for finishing the B Street garden fence!

Have Fun at the Gardens!

As a member, you can use the gardens as a community space with your friends (for relaxed, quiet activities). We also want to hear from you about activities/events that you would like to see happen at the gardens this year.

All members are welcome to use the B Street greenhouse, even if you grow on Crow Hill. Want to learn more about growing in the B Street greenhouse? Have ideas for using the greenhouse in a group project? Come to this meeting!

Our new Maintenance & Grounds Coordinator Jennifer Davis is organizing a greenhouse group. Sign up to get her updates on the volunteer page!

Spring Garden Kickoff!

Sunday April 24, 12 – 3 pm
BOTH GARDENS

We only have two work parties a year, this is one of them!

Stop by your garden to:

  • Start working on your plot.
  • Hunt for spring eggs and win door prizes!
  • Get a garden tour.
  • Ask questions.
  • Share your ideas.
  • Meet the board.
  • Meet fellow gardeners.
Communal work you do at the kickoff counts toward your 5 required volunteer hours!
