Garden Kick Off + Starting the Season at Douglas Community Gardens
Spring Garden Kickoff!
Sunday April 22, 10am – 1pm
BOTH GARDENS
We only have two work parties a year, this is one of them!
Stop by your garden to:
- Start working on your plot.
- Get a garden tour.
- Ask questions.
- Share your ideas.
- Meet the board.
- Meet fellow gardeners.
Communal work you do at the kickoff counts toward your 5 required volunteer hours!
This is also a great orientation for new members and everyone else who wants a refresher.
We still have open plots at B Street – if you know someone interested in growing with us have them contact us!
Read the Garden Guidelines
Be sure to review the Garden Guidelines! They cover Membership; Community Garden Maintenance; Pesticides, Herbicides, Fungicides, and Fertilizers; Organic Plot Maintenance Basics (Materials and Tools, Structures, Composting, Greenhouse, Weeds, Pets & Children); Youth Plots; Unwanted Activities; and End of the Season.
Bring any questions about the guidelines to the Spring Kickoff Work Party.
Check the Volunteer Needs List
All members are responsible for a minimum of 5 volunteer hours at the garden.
You can see a list of volunteer projects on the Volunteer Updates page at the website. Some of the needs right now include B Street box repairs, painting plot IDs, weeding pathways and shared plots, greenhouse cleanup, trash cleanup and cleaning and oiling tools.
